Overview:
The Useful Links module is a very important part of a Magnetic Website because it provides additional resources and content beyond what you can provide in your own website.
Useful Links are an easy way to quickly add useful and helpful information to your website even if you don't have a lot of tips, articles & information yet.
The Useful Links module displays a categorized or alphabetized list of links to other resources with the name, brief description and website to link to. When you click on the link a new window pops up with the new website so that the person can return to your website when they are finished.
The Link Exchange is a great way to get targeted visitors to your website for free and is critical for any business that will benefit from higher rankings on the search engines.
These companies have exchanged links with the hosting website in return for the hosting website posting their links on their useful links page.
Your visitors can submit new links and link categories that are held in a Pending status until reviewed & approved by you at which time your website is instantaneously updated and the new link is displayed.
Simple Useful Links:
- Links are displayed alphabetically.
- When the company link is clicked the linked website home page is opened up in a new window so that the visitor may easily jump back to the original site.
- Link Management section allows you to add, edit and delete useful links
Categorized Useful Links:
- Links are displayed by category.
- Categories are listed as hyperlinks at the top of the page that, when clicked, take you right to the category you selected.
- There is a link to return to the top of the links page so that you can easily get back to the category list.
- Link Management section includes the ability to add, edit and delete link categories in addition to useful links
Link Exchange:
- On the link exchange page a visitor can submit their name, company name, URL, address, link description and link category. If the category does not exist the visitor may opt to define a new category and submit this to the administrator.
- All links submitted by visitors are pending until activated by the administrator. This prevents unauthorized or inappropriate content from appearing in displayed links.
- The administrator is notified via email that a new link is available and in a pending status until approved.
- There is a hyperlink to the Link Exchange program with the details required in order to trade links with someone.
- The administrator may chose to view or sort the displayed links by pending, inactive, active or all links.
- The links are sorted and listed alphabetically. There are options to edit an individual link, email to a link respondent, view the website in a new browser window of the link respondent's website and to delete a link.
- New categories that have been submitted from visitors are placed into a pending category until an administrator can decide whether the link is viable.
- From the link categories administrative page there are options to display active, inactive, pending and all links. Options exist to edit or delete any of the categories.
